Getting Started with Category Tree
The Category Tree lets you organize any entity — equipment, fleets, personnel, or custom classifications — into a hierarchical structure. Think of it as a universal filing system that connects to your assets and custom forms.
Create Your First Node
- Open Category Tree from the app menu.
- Click Add Root Node to create a top-level branch (e.g., "Fleet" or "Team").
- Give it a name, choose Branch (has children) or Leaf (end node), and optionally add an emoji icon and hex color.
Build the Tree
- Open any existing node and click + Add Child to create sub-nodes.
- Continue adding layers as deep as your classification needs.
- Use the tree explorer on the dashboard to expand/collapse branches.
Node Types
- Branch — a container node; holds child nodes
- Leaf — an end node; represents a specific item (e.g., a single aircraft)
Item Types
Use the Item Type field to label what a node represents (e.g., "aircraft", "vehicle", "person"). This helps downstream apps (Fleet, Sensors) link nodes to the right records.
