Signing in, two-step login and your account
How you sign in to OrbitingFox and keep your account safe. Some parts appear only once the site turns them on - if you do not see one yet, it is coming.
Signing in
- Use your username or your email address, in one field. Capital letters do not matter.
- After a few wrong passwords the page asks you to wait a little before the next try. Nobody is ever locked out of their own account.
- Forgot password? sits right under the password field. The email link works once. If you ask for a reset with an address that has no account, nothing is sent.
- Where offered: Continue with Google or GitHub.
Two-step login
Account › Security › Two-step login. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app (for example Google Authenticator), enter a code, then save your recovery codes somewhere safe - each works once if you lose your phone. From then on, signing in asks for a code after your password.
Where you are signed in
Account › Security › Where you're signed in lists your devices; sign the others out if one is not yours. Changing your password signs out your other devices automatically.
Switching between your accounts
Linked accounts still switch with one click. An account protected by two-step login (or a staff account) asks for its own password and code first.
Deleting your account
Account › Delete account: type DELETE (and your password, where asked). Your personal details are erased - including copies kept by the sign-in system - and a notice goes to your email.
