What happens right after you press “Sign up” (2026-09-01)
Signing up now always ends the same way: a page saying we have emailed you. Open that email to finish. It is a small change with two real benefits.
You are signed in by the code, not by the form
Creating the account no longer signs you in on the spot. Instead you type the 6-character code from the email, and that signs you in — so nobody is ever signed in to an address they have not proven is theirs. Everything you caught as a guest still comes with you: your test Blinks and captures move to the new account the moment it is created, whether or not you open the email straight away.
If you lose the email, nothing is stuck. Your password already works — just sign in normally, and the yellow banner offers you a fresh code.
If the address already has an account, the page does not say so
It used to tell you, on screen, that an address was already registered. That was helpful to you — and equally helpful to a stranger testing whether somebody they know has an account here. So the page no longer says it, and the email does instead: if the address is already registered, its real owner gets a message saying so, with a link to sign in and a link to reset their password.
So if you sign up, get the “check your email” page, and the email tells you the address is already yours — that is the system working. Use the sign-in link, or reset your password if you have forgotten it.
